Uutisia Fiskars Toteemi

In the middle of the magnificent arctic nature, right in front of the “Lapland-loft” exhibition building, there now rises an astonishing tared log with tens of FISKARS axes of different sizes striked in it. This installation, AXE-TOTEM, seems to reach for the sky with it’s sharp and strong tools.

Fiskars Goes Wilderness

-Giant of the fine Finnish design tradition , FISKARS, has recently joined an interesting exhibition of modern Finnish design. Design House IDOLI, with it’s “Finnish Design Idols Go WILDerness” - exhibition is situated in the northernmost Lapland in Finland.

-FISKARS, as a company, is a powerful example of the effect of great design on successful business. The numerous international design awards FISKARS seems to win year after year only verify what the consumers all over the world already know : it is a pleasure to work with well and smart designed tools, whatever the task!” – says Hanneli Sillfors, the visual coordinator of the exhibition. “

-In the wintertime the host of Design House IDOLI, Pekka Sillfors, has a hobby both athletic and creative : he models snow which lines all paths and roads of the exhibition area. A perfect set of SNOW TOOLS by FISKARS makes this “snow design” -activity a beloved and healthy hobby for him, instead of just hard work!

-Among the people who come and visit Design House IDOLI each year, to admire it’s exotic way to display modern finnish design in the middle of arctic wilderness, there are many prominent figures of international business, politics, culture and media, from all over the world. Such as recently U.S. Ambassador to Finland, Bruce J. Oreck with his family.
